The softer of the two brothers (see Gus), Jon is another little lover boy! Happy to sit on your lap, shoulder, arm, or pretty much anywhere, Jon is just as cute as his brother Gus. A beautiful (and soft) little Tiger-striped kitten with gorgeous black and white dots all over his tummy, Jon is fully box-trained AND play-trained (he’ll bite down on the mouse toy, but only softly nibble at your fingers). Jon is also gearing up for the Kitten Olympics this year, and can outjump and outspin his brother Gus -- all in the air! Jon has what you’d expect from a kitten in terms of a meow, but we haven’t heard him growl during playtime like Gus does.

Jon must have a bit of a jealous streak in him though, as he’ll always run right over to you if he sees you petting or playing with his brother Gus. Like his brother, he is a pretty quiet kitten: Jon will often let out a single plaintive “meow” if you’re in the room and not giving him any attention. Except when he’s scared, he is not a very talkative kitten (so no midnight caterwauling!)

After he gets used to “new surroundings” (it only took him about 24 hours with us…) Jon is very trusting and loves any and all attention you’ll give him: he will readily roll over and give you his belly for some soft touches. I can’t think of a time when he did not immediately start purring as soon as he was picked up too -- so definitely an appreciative kitten. He’s also extremely social and simply wants to be “in” whatever is going on. Sit at a desk, he’ll run over to your feet, then look up and beg you with his eyes to pick him up. Sit on the sofa, he’ll usually come running and jump up to sit with you too.

As Gus’ profile shared, While Jon will certainly make an awesome addition to any family, if you think you might be able to take two -- consider adopting him with his brother Gus, as they really love one another: playing, sleeping, eating- just about everything together

13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose.

We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat
