Shio is a playful boy who loves being pet! He has the best purr when he’s getting his face rubbed. He absolutely loves wand toys and toys with balls in a track. He purrs whenever his foster family waves a wand toy for him, and will jump and pounce on toys that move around. He really wants a cat friend to play with him, and will try to play with our hands or feet in place of another cat. When Shio wants us to pet him, he will shove his head into our hand, or reach up with a paw to pat us if he can’t reach our hands.

Shio is skittish and his instinct is to dash off at any loud sound or sudden movement, but as he gets comfortable in his environment he settles down more. He’s very cautious around new people and in new places, and takes time to warm up. Once he feels safe, he explores everywhere and will gradually start jumping up next to you, then eventually climbs into your lap for pets. Shio will hide when he’s scared, but when he’s comfortable he loves to sleep in the sunshine on our bed, or curled up in a chair where he can keep an eye on everything.

Shio needs a quiet environment with someone who has the patience to help him feel safe. He would love to have another cat to play with him. He has been very good about respecting the boundaries of the adult cats in his foster home who do not want him around.
