Meet Jerry; a big boy with a big heart who domesticated himself (really) in hopes of finding a
home. He’s an enthusiastic cuddler and conversationalist. A truly sweet and gentle giant. If
someone wants a cat/dog, this is your boy. Even before he was neutered, Jerry never sprayed in
the house. He has excellent litter box etiquette and no bad habits. Since being brought inside
he has shown obvious gratitude and affection. When he’s happy he likes to rub his face on
yours. Favorite activities include watching TV, diving under the covers with you, and lap sitting.
He is an excellent car passenger and the vets love him. He does have FIV, but so have most of
our cats, and they have been living to over 18 years. We’ve lived with a lot of cats over the
years, and Jerry is truly special.

FIV-positive means that your cat has been infected by the virus, but if it is not showing signs it may be years, if ever before the cat develops the clinical signs referred to as Feline AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome of cats). Just being diagnosed with the FIV virus does not mean your cat has feline AIDS

The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds. Casual, non-aggressive contact does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections.

13thstcats.org is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, No-Kill Rescue Group based in San Jose.

We try our best to match our cats to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular cat
