Brook and Starling are a sweet bonded pair who are affectionate and playful! They have very different personalities, but are usually found near each other, whether they are sleeping, eating, or playing.
Brook is a social boy who loves to be around people and doesn’t mind being held and carried around. Every morning he greets us with loud purrs as he weaves around our ankles and demands pets and snuggles. Brook is incredibly playful and especially loves toys with a ball in a track that he can bat around while he lays on the floor. He likes to drop fuzzy mice for balls into a box with holes and bat them around until he can get them out again. Brook thinks everything can become a toy, so he’s often knocking things off counters and tables to play with on the floor. He also loves chewing on cardboard boxes, while his sister likes to sit in them. Starling loves wand and feather toys, and purrs when she sees us waving one around for her. She also likes to chase things around that are rolling across the floor, and occasionally steals one of her brother’s toys.
Brook and Starling love to play together, sometimes with the same toys. They often play tag or chase each other around, and occasionally still wrestle. They have even convinced one of the older cats in their foster home to join in the race from time to time!
They both love looking out the windows, but Starling usually takes the best spot while Brook lounges nearby. Starling loves to make a nest in the curtains where she can have a cozy spot while looking out the window. They also love looking out the screen door together. Their favorite napping spot is on our bed, and usually can be found sleeping together, or at least near each other. Sometimes Starling will meow to call Brook if she’s not sure where he is, and she likes to eat with him next to her.
Starling is slower to warm up and more cautious than Brook. Brook is an attention hog who wants ALL the love, while Starling hangs back and will even dash away if people move too quickly or are too loud. But once you earn her trust, Starling will seek you out for affection and even cries if she can’t find her person. Starling loves her foster mom, and has a routine of jumping on the bed in the evening and purring loudly while she gets her pets. If the adult cats in the house don’t chase her away, Starling will sleep near her foster mom at night. It took some time for Starling to be this comfortable, but she has really blossomed into a sweetheart, seeking out her foster mom for pets throughout the day.
Brook is very food oriented, and is constantly trying to eat our food or stealing food from the counters! He needs to be in a home that can keep him on a feeding schedule so he doesn’t overeat. Starling needs someone who can be patient with her while she gets comfortable in her new home. Anyone willing to invest time in these two will have a wonderful pair of cats!
